Dry January is when people choose not to indulge in alcoholic beverages for the entirety of the month of January. It’s a sobriety challenge that lasts 31 days and is for anyone who wants to start the year off with a clean-slate or for people who want a break from all the alcoholic indulgences from the holiday season.
While it may be hard for some to give up alcoholic drinks, there are alternatives to get that fix. Mocktails are an excellent substitution to alcoholic beverages. The only ingredient missing is the liquor, but other than that, the flavors are basically the same. Plus, these replacements won’t give you a hangover.
Dry January Mocktails
Here are some mocktails to make in celebration of Dry January.
1. Blue Hawaiian
A Blue Hawaiian is a delicious cocktail that combines classic tropical flavors of Hawaii. It’s both sweet and tart and makes an excellent mocktail. This fun mocktail will make you feel like you’re in the Hawaiian Islands sitting beachside under the warm sun.
• 8 oz Blue Hawaiian Punch
• 2 oz Tea Zone Pineapple Syrup
• 4 oz Sprite (Lemon-Lime Soda)
1. Fill cup with Ice.
2. Pour in Tea Zone Pineapple Syrup.
3. Pour in Blue Hawaiian Punch.
4. Pour in Sprite (Lemon-Lime Soda).
5. Stir and enjoy!
2. Shirley Temple
Shirley Temples are probably the most common and most popular mocktails. This delicious drink is most likely the first mocktail you’ve tried as a child and continue to order through adulthood. It’s a staple for Dry January.
• 1 oz Grenadine Syrup
• 1 oz Tea Zone Orange Syrup
• 8 oz Giner Ale
• 1 Orange Slice
• 1 Orange Peel
• Maraschino Cherries
1. Place Orange Slice into the glass.
2. Fill glass with Ice.
3. Pour in Tea Zone Orange Syrup and Grenadine Syrup.
4. Pour in Ginger Ale.
5. Garnish with Maraschino Cherries and Orange Peel and enjoy!
A Nojito is a Mojito but without the rum. Mojitos are classic cocktails, so it’s fitting to replicate a non-alcoholic version for Dry January. If you’re someone who enjoys the balance of sweet, sour, and minty flavors, this refreshing beverage is perfect for you.
• 8 Mint Leaves
• 3 oz Lime Juice
• 1.5 oz Tea Zone Fructose
• 2 oz Club Soda
1. Add in 3-4 Mint Leaves to the bottom of the glass.
2. Muddle the Mint with a spoon or a muddler.
3. Fill glass with Ice.
4. Pour in Tea Zone Fructose and Lime Juice.
5. Top off with Club Soda and garnish with Mint and enjoy!
4. Eggnog Hot Chocolate
The holidays may be over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate. Pairing it with eggnog makes for a delicious and rich flavor. This is perfect for those who still aren’t ready to say goodbye to all the holiday comfort.
• 4 oz Eggnog of Choice
• 4 oz Milk of Choice
• 1 oz Tea Zone Chocolate Powder
• Pinch of Cinnamon
1. Add Tea Zone Chocolate Powder into a mug then pour in heated milk.
2. Mix well until powder dissolves.
3. Heat up the Eggnog and pour it into the Hot Chocolate mixture.
4. Stir until combined.<5. Top off with Cinnamon and enjoy!
Dry January is a challenge to partake in sobriety for the 31 days in January. It’s like a fresh new beginning to kick off the new year. These mocktails are perfect alternatives to their alcoholic versions and help ease the struggle of the challenge.
