What is grass jelly?

Native to China, Hong Kong, Macau, Southeast Asia, and Taiwan, grass jelly (cincau), also known as leaf jelly, is a black herbal jelly dessert created from the Chinese mesona plant along with other ingredients. It is the perfect choice for all dessert lovers due to its semi-sweet nature. This is the distinguishing characteristic that sets apart grass jelly from other jellies. By itself, it has a semi-sweet flavor that leaves a refreshing after taste, but for those who have more of a sweet tooth, you can easily enhance the sweetness with any type of added sweetener. It can be served cold or hot.

Improve your drinks or desserts!

Take your favorite shaved ice dessert to the next level by adding some grass jelly. Not only will this add to the flavor of your icy dessert, but it’ll also make a promising picture.
