Here are some refreshing Mexican beverages perfect for offering this whole month of May.
Cinco de Mayo is Spanish for "Fifth of May" and is an annual celebration in Mexico. It commemorates the anniversary of Mexico's victory over the French Empire in 1862 at the Battle of Puebla. In the United States, this holiday is also widely celebrated, as more than 37 million Hispanics of Mexican origin are living in the country. The celebrations are usually marked with colorful parades and displays of Mexican culture, specifically through food and beverages.
As a boba tea business, you can celebrate this Mexican holiday by offering limited-edition drinks throughout May with a Mexican theme. And to cater to customers of all ages, we picked non-alcoholic beverages that are refreshing and enjoyable to drink this season. Best of all, they are easy to create, and most ingredients are available in a boba supply store near you.

#1 Watermelon Lemon Lime Agua Fresca
Agua Fresca translates to “refreshing water” or “fresh water” in Spanish and is a classic Mexican non-alcoholic beverage. It’s simple to make and can be created in a wide variety of flavors. But for this recipe, we choose to use the combination of watermelon and lemon-lime as it’s a classic spring and summer flavor and gives off a tropical festive scent, look, and taste. And to give it a twist, we added popping pearls for more texture.

#2 Grilled Pineapple Lime Mocktail
Lime is perfect for warm weather, so here’s another beverage with this ingredient. This grilled pineapple mocktail may take some time to prepare, but it will absolutely delight your customers. It offers a fun play of flavors and a unique smokey fruity taste that will keep them coming back for more.

- Ripe pineapple
- Honey

How can you make Grilled Pineapple Lime Mocktail?
First, we grill the pineapples. Combine the honey, classic lime syrup, and ground cinnamon in a small bowl and whisk to combine and create a marinade. Set aside once done. Slice the pineapple after removing the husk into one-inch-thick rings and place them on a preheated grill. Brush the thick marinade over the slices while cooking. Once both sides are caramelized, let cool and place in the refrigerator.
Once the pineapple slices are cold enough, blend them with honey and fresh lime juice in a blender until smooth. Don’t put all the slices, though; set some for garnishing. Pour over a cup filled with crushed ice, add the sparkling orange juice and club soda, and stir. Finally, garnish with a grilled pineapple slice.
#3 Horchata with Crystal Boba
Horchata is a truly Mexican drink that deserves to be on your menu this May. It is a rice- or coconut-based beverage that is usually offered in most Mexican restaurants. But you can make your version unique by adding sparkly crystal boba to add some texture and sweetness, so there is no need to add sugar.

Pour the rice grains and filtered water into the bowl of a blender; blend for about a minute or until the rice begins to break up. Let the mixture stand at room temperature for at least three hours. Once done, strain the rice water into a container and dispose of the rice. Pour the milk and vanilla syrup into the mixture and sprinkle the cinnamon. Stir and chill. Stir before serving, then top off with a helping of crystal boba. Serve with a giant straw.
#4 Virgin Sangria
Sangria is the quintessential Spanish summer drink. Even if it’s not exactly a Mexican drink, sangria is offered in various Mexican restaurants. But not everyone can enjoy it because it’s alcoholic, so the Virgin Sangria is created – a mocktail infused with a blend of delicious fruity flavors.

#5 Mexican Punch with Popping Pearls
Finally, we have the citrusy-sweet Mexican punch in a lovely peachy pink color. Just like the virgin sangria, this beverage features a combination of tropical fruity flavors that make it so refreshing. To give it more flavor, texture, and color, we’ll add some popping pearls to this creation too.
